Houston Amateur Golf Association - 2010 Charity Tournament
The Houston Amateur Golf Association has been raising money for Houston junior golf for the past six years. This year our designated tournament was at Houston Oaks on August 29. Since this is a First Tee facility proceeds went to The First Tee of Houston. There were First Tee kids greeting each player at check-in with a personalized thank you note. There were also First Tee kids on the first tee to thank our players for their support and to applaud good shots.
Arabella Cruz is a fifteen year old sophomore at Cy Woods High School who has been a member of The First Tee since she was 7. She competed with the HAGA players in a closest to the pin contest on Hole 3, a 146 yard Par 3. Her Mom, Lenore, was a big help in helping sell tickets and handle the money.
Part of the activities were raffles for a Scotty Cameron and two rounds for four at Houston Oaks. Our winner of the Scotty Cameron gift certificate was Rick Lozano and winners of the rounds for four at Houston Oaks were Dan Yamashiro and Josh Massoud.
We raised a total of $3,000 which exceeded our goal of $2,000. We would like to thank all of you for your generous giving and, in particular, would like to thank Michael Sloan, Josh Massoud, and David Tamuty for their donations. Special thanks to Garry Brunson for organizing the event.
